New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern on Thursday announced an immediate ban on the sale of assault rifles and semi-automatics nearly a week after the terror attack on mosques in Christchurch that killed 50 people. "In short, every semi-automatic weapon used in the terrorist attack on Friday will be banned," she added. Ardern announced a buyback scheme for the banned weapons.
