Pope Francis on Sunday urged the Israeli government and the Palestinian leadership to hold talks to control the current flare-up in tensions in the region. A series of violent clashes and attacks in recent days has resulted in the deaths of seven Israelis and nine Palestinians. Gaza-based Palestinian militants also fired rockets towards Israel as part of the conflict.
