President Droupadi Murmu broke protocol and walked up to the crying mother of Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra. Lieutenant Tiwari, who was merely 23 years old, laid down his life while saving an Agniveer who fell into a mountain stream in North Sikkim in 2025. Army called his gesture "supreme act of leadership and humanity".
