Pune's oldest crematorium Vaikunth Smashan Bhoomi will be modified after around 2,000 people from the neighbourhood complained about the rising air pollution. Some residents even approached Bombay High Court. National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) has said that there is a need for modifications in use of fuel for pyres that till now used wood, cow dung cakes or briquettes.
