Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Karnataka flood situation, requesting him to release ₹5,000 crore as interim relief. He also urged PM Modi to notify the natural disaster as national calamity. The death toll in flood-related incidents in Karnataka has risen to 42, while around six lakh people have been evacuated.
