Russia planned to rescue WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange from the Ecuador embassy in London last year, the Guardian has claimed. An Ecuadorian diplomat was reportedly Assange's point of contact with Russia. Assange was to be taken out of the embassy in a diplomatic vehicle and transported to another country, but the plan was cancelled after it was deemed too risky.
