Scientists synthesise voice of 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy
short by Dishant Sharma / on Friday, 24 January, 2020
Scientists have synthesised the sound of a 3,000-year-old mummified individual. The voice has been accurately reproduced as a vowel-like sound based on the precise dimensions of his extant vocal tract following Computed Tomography (CT) scanning that enabled the creation of a 3-D printed vocal tract. The mummified individual was Nesyamun, a priest during the reign of Egyptian pharaoh Ramses XI.
