Bioluminescence or sea sparkles in waves were spotted at beaches along the East Coast Road in Chennai on Sunday. The bluish glow was caused by a high concentration of a micro-plankton called Noctiluca scintillans in the sea, as per experts. According to marine experts, the phenomenon is an indicator of climate change.
