Seaweed drifts 20,000 km to reach 'isolated' Antarctica: Study

Researchers led by Australian National University have found the first proof that Antarctica is not isolated from the rest of the Earth, with the discovery of foreign seaweed that drifted 20,000 kilometres to reach there. Researchers suggested such biological rafts could be used by plants and animals to populate the icy continent as soon as the local environment becomes hospitable.
