Shobhaa De has denied ex-Pakistan envoy to India Abdul Basit's claims that he influenced her to write the 2016 article where she "advocated plebiscite" in J&K after Burhan Wani's death. She said she only met him this year at Jaipur Literature Festival where he "intruded into a small group" and "was snubbed and almost as good as asked to leave".
