Ministry of Commerce and Industry data shows the number of startups recognised under Startup India scheme jumped 99.8% to 28,979 till March 1 from 17,694 till March 2019. Out of 28,979 startups, 5,477 startups are from Maharashtra, the highest from any state. Following Maharashtra, Karnataka has 4,206 startups under the scheme.
