Stellantis, the automaker behind Fiat, Jeep and Dodge, has announced it will lay off over 1,200 workers and indefinitely halt operations at a Jeep plant in Illinois, US. The company said it aims to cut costs as it invests in electric vehicles. The plant, which produces the Jeep Cherokee SUV, will cease production as of February 28, the company added.
