The Supreme Court has rejected a petition by the BJP in West Bengal against a 2013 order by the CM Mamata Banerjee-led government which banned the use of loudspeakers during February and March. Children's studies are more important than election campaigning, the SC ruled. The prohibition on use of loudspeakers applies in residential and institutional areas because of school exams.
