Study links indulgent parenting to psychopathic traits later

A US study found that highly indulgent parenting in childhood, such as few limits, was linked to psychopathic and narcissistic traits, including antagonism, meanness and impulsivity, in adulthood. However, parental praise was linked to more socially beneficial characteristics, such as social confidence. Denying a child psychological autonomy was associated with hostility and poor impulse control.
