After a petition filed with a US regulator claimed Tesla cars contain a defect that causes sudden unintended acceleration, the Elon Musk-led automaker called the claims "completely false". The petition had cited 127 consumer complaints of cars accelerating on their own which allegedly led to 110 crashes and 52 injuries. Tesla claimed the petition was submitted by a Tesla short-seller.
