The UN has reportedly been deploying alleged Sri Lankan war criminals to its peacekeeping operations in Mali, Lebanon, Darfur and South Sudan. Those deployed included commanders involved in alleged abuses during the civil war in 2009. This comes despite the establishment of a verification process to screen out those who served in frontline combat positions in the war's final phase.
