The US has added Chinese chipmaker SMIC and national offshore oil producer CNOOC to a blacklist of alleged Chinese military companies. The government has designated two more companies as owned or controlled by the Chinese military. Earlier, China had said it firmly opposed the politicisation of "relevant Chinese companies" following a report on the blacklisting of the firms.
