The US has classified India as a developed nation, eliminating the preferential treatment it received in countervailing duty investigations. This makes it easier for the US to penalise India if it harms US industries with unfairly subsidised exports. India was re-designated on account of it being a G20 member and having a share of more than 0.5% of world trade.
