Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin is one of the three firms chosen by the US government to build and demonstrate a nuclear-based propulsion system on a spacecraft in orbit by 2025. The contracts awarded to the companies are for the first 18-month phase of the programme, with two tracks. Blue Origin has been awarded $2.5 million for the programme.
