Two US warships sailed near the China-claimed Spratly Islands in the disputed South China Sea on Monday, as part of what the US calls "freedom of navigation operations". China said the US is trying "to provoke trouble and create tension to disrupt the peace and stability" of the sea. Nearly 90% of the South China Sea is claimed by China.
