The use of loudspeakers in mosques is "not a fundamental right", the Allahabad High Court has ruled. It said this while dismissing a petition filed by a man who sought permission to play Azaan using loudspeakers in a mosque. "Azaan is an integral part of Islam, but giving it through loudspeakers is not a part of Islam," it added.
