The government has saved ₹21,672 crore by directly paying the subsidy on cooking LPG gas connections into consumers' bank accounts in the last two financial years, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Wednesday. The initiative facilitated the elimination of duplicate connections and diversions which saved the money, he added. The scheme was launched across the country from January 1, 2015.
