Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh each to the families of nine children who were killed in a road accident in Uttarakhand on August 6. PM Modi also announced an ex-gratia of ₹50,000 for the injured. The accident took place when a school van carrying the children fell into a gorge in Tehri Garhwal.
