15 lakh people living as recluses, rarely leave their rooms, says Japan
Nearly 15 lakh people in Japan are living as recluses due to relationship issues and after losing their jobs post COVID-19 pandemic, according to a survey conducted by the government. Described as 'hikikomori', these people withdraw themselves from the society and rarely leave their rooms. Such people account for 2% of Japan's population aged 15 to 64, the government said.
