What is known about the new COVID-19 variant 'XE' that WHO has warned against?

WHO has issued a warning against the 'XE' variant of COVID-19, which is a hybrid of two sublineages of the Omicron variant- BA.1 and BA.2. First detected in the UK on January 19, the 'XE' variant's rate of infection has been found in preliminary studies to be 10% higher than that of BA.2 (considered most contagious till now), WHO said.
