Amar Singh Chamkila's songwriter friend Swaran Sivia, in an interview with RPD 24, said the late singer had confessed to his singing partner Amarjot Kaur about being previously married before eloping together. Sivia added that Chamkila's associate Kesar Singh Tikki suggested him to get married to her or else "she'll get married to someone else and go away".
