Japan's Subaru Telescope has directly imaged a massive exoplanet and a brown dwarf. The exoplanet, HIP 54515 b, orbits a star in the Leo constellation and lies approximately 271 light-years from Earth. It has a planetary mass nearly 18 times that of Jupiter. The brown dwarf HIP 71618 B is located about 169 light-years away in Bootes.
