The central government’s Delimitation Bill, 2026, introduced in April, also contained provisions for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). It allowed the Election Commission to undertake delimitation of constituencies in areas of Jammu and Kashmir currently under Pakistan’s occupation whenever they cease to be so. At present, 24 seats in the J&K Legislative Assembly remain reserved for PoK.
