Wayanad, the Lok Sabha constituency where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is seeing re-election, has seen at least three deaths due to elephant attacks this year. Since 2014, the district has witnessed 149 deaths due to human-wildlife conflicts. "I am not doing any farming. Because of all the wild animals, what will we get by farming?" said Kalyani, an eighty-year-old farmer.
