German court finds Syrian man guilty of crimes against humanity

A German court has convicted Anwar Raslan, an ex-Syrian secret police officer, of crimes against humanity and sentenced him to a life term in prison. The crimes against humanity were alleged to have taken place in 2011 and 2012. Raslan was allegedly responsible for the torture of around 4,000 people in a General Intelligence Service prison in the capital, Damascus.
