Investors lose ₹24,000 cr after report flags HDFC Bank's ₹45-cr fund diversion

The shares of HDFC Bank, India's second-most valuable listed company, fell over 2% in Wednesday’s trade, wiping out more than ₹24,000 crore from its market value. The decline came after The Indian Express reported that the bank allegedly diverted ₹45 crore to Maharashtra government-owned MSRDC after promising 6.01% interest on deposits, higher than the usual 3.5% rate.
