Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Deputy Governor T Rabi Sankar said the central bank's experiments with the retail and wholesale digital rupee have been rewarding so far. He said RBI launched the pilot for retail Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to deal with the threat posed by private currencies. The retail pilot of the e-Rupee went live on December 1.
