Lok Sabha elections this year is India's second longest as first elections in independent India were held in 68 phases over four months from October 25, 1951 to February 21, 1952. The voting exercise will take 44 days. The 2019 elections lasted 39 days. Nearly 97 crore people, over 10% of the global population, are eligible to vote this time.
