Gautam Buddha Nagar Police recorded 12,609 criminal cases in 2021, as compared to more than 9,130 cases in 2020, according to official data. The police have attributed the rise in criminal cases to challans that were issued last year for violation of COVID-19 norms. They claim the number of serious crimes registered in the district has gone down.
