Amid rising COVID-19 cases, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said there was a need to monitor hospitalisation due to COVID-19 or other influenza-like illnesses or severe acute respiratory infections. In a meeting on Thursday, Mandaviya also stressed upon the importance of whole genome sequencing of the virus to check mutations. Notably, India reported 17,336 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.
