short by Arshiya Chopra / on Friday, 19 November, 2021
During a lunar eclipse, the Earth lies directly between the Sun and the Moon, causing the Earth to cast its shadow on the Moon. Due to Rayleigh scattering, the red light from the Sun, which has the longest wavelength, passes through the Earth's atmosphere.
