Research shows that there may be differences in how teens with autism interpret social cues by observing how they observe faces. All interact differently despite variety of autism types. Gryphon and McPartland's study focused on teens with autism who tend to concentrate on particular features of their faces when doing memory tasks, which may help identify possible subtypes of autism.
