Novel intervention for diabetic kidney risk

Researchers at the University of Bristol discovered a hormone that protects kidneys from damage caused by diabetes, suggesting an early treatment approach. In the UK, one in five diabetics suffers from kidney failure caused by diabetes. In diabetic kidney disease models, adiponectin, a hormone derived from fat cells, defends the kidneys by minimizing artery leakage.
