US tech giants to oppose India's plan to regulate 'non-personal' data: Report

A group representing US tech giants Amazon, Facebook and Google is planning to oppose India's proposal to regulate "non-personal" data, Reuters reported citing a letter by US-India Business Council. A government-appointed panel suggested creating a regulator for data that is anonymised but critical for firms to build their businesses. It proposed requiring firms to share data with other entities.
