How can one transfer US stocks between Indian brokers?

If an Indian broker shuts down, investors' US stock holdings may remain unaffected, as the Indian broker often acts only as an interface. They may be able to transfer eligible shares to another broker through the US-based Automated Customer Account Transfer Service (ACATS), subjected to the receiving broker's acceptance. Notably, fractional shares generally cannot be transferred through ACATS.
