The company stated that the rig is currently undergoing refurbishment, and the contract is expected to commence during Q3 FY27.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals reported a 55% YoY rise in Q1 FY27 revenue to ₹4,921 crore, while the profit after tax (PAT) increased 3.3% to ₹566 crore. Operating EBITDA grew 61% with margin expanding to 33.8%. Gold ETF investments more than doubled in value to ₹6,300 crore in the April-June quarter as investors sought safer assets amid record-high prices and global uncertainty. According to a survey conducted by Finsafe, 69% of India’s salaried workforce is not fully prepared for a financial emergency, relying on employer-provided cover or remaining completely unprepared. Meanwhile, 55% of the respondents said they were unprepared for expenses in case of job loss. Around 70% identified retirement planning and children’s education as their biggest financial challenges.

Taxpayers who miss the July 31 ITR deadline can still file a belated return or an updated return (ITR-U), depending on their situation. A belated return can be filed until December 31, 2026, with a late fee of up to ₹5,000. If both deadlines are missed, taxpayers may voluntarily file an ITR-U to disclose income and meet tax compliance requirements.

Failing to file an ITR by July 31 can attract interest at 1% per month, calculated from the due date, along with late fees. Since interest is calculated monthly, even a one-day delay in filing ITR may attract interest on the full tax due. Filing ITR after the deadline may still attract late fees, even if no tax is due.

The 70-20-10 budgeting rule offers a framework to help individuals manage their income by allocating it to spending, saving, and debt repayment. Under the rule, 70% of a person's monthly income should be used for necessary expenses, while 20% should be allocated to savings. The remaining 10% of income can be used for debt repayment, financial goals, or charitable donations.

India's gold demand fell 6% year-on-year to 131 tonnes in June quarter as record prices discouraged people from jewellery purchases, World Gold Council said. However, the value of demand surged to a record ₹1.98 lakh crore as compared to ₹1.32 lakh crore during the same period last year. Jewellery demand dropped 15%, while bar and coin demand rose by 9%.

Salaried employees can claim Leave Travel Allowance (LTA) for up to two journeys to destinations within India during a block of four calendar years. Both claims may be made in the same year. It is limited to travel fare and doesn't cover hotel stays, food, sightseeing, shopping etc. LTA exemption is available only under the old tax regime.

Gold and silver prices swung by nearly ₹15,000 in July as they closed 2-3% lower amid rising uncertainty due to US-Iran war. Gold fell by ₹2,772 and swung by ₹3,951 to close at ₹1,42,860/10 grams on July 31, while silver fell by ₹7,135 and swung by ₹14,863 to close at ₹2,18,295/kg. Both commodities hit their month-high prices on July 6.

An X user claimed 330-ml beer is being sold for ₹929-1,059 while 60-ml liquor is being sold for ₹1,549 at Bengaluru airport, saying this isn't "premium pricing, it's demand destruction". "It's lunch hour and most of your restobars are barely occupied. Why not introduce dynamic pricing?" the user said. "Business isn't about maximising markups. It's about maximising profits," he added.
