Adani Energy Solutions said its wholly owned arm, PTSL, signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with MSEDCL on Tuesday to supply 2,500 MW of round-the-clock power for 25 years. The deal strengthens PTSL's power supply portfolio and follows Adani Energy's ₹4,700 crore transmission project win in Karnataka.

Adani Airport Holdings will raise ₹9,825 crore through a primary equity investment from Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek and BlackRock-managed funds. The deal values the airport business at a pre-money equity valuation of $18 billion, with investors set to hold 5.54% after three tranches. Proceeds will fund airport modernisation, capacity expansion and Adani Airport City development.

SBI, Bank of Baroda and GIC Re shares are in focus following reports that NSE may lower its IPO price to ₹1,700 from ₹1,785 per share. The exchange may also reduce the OFS size to 5.5% from 6%, potentially raising ₹24,300 crore and valuing NSE at up to ₹4.42 lakh crore, compared with its earlier target of around ₹5.26 lakh crore.

Biocon shares gained over 3% after a ₹635-640 crore block deal involving about 1.66 crore shares, with True North's Active Pine LLP reportedly exiting its position. Investor sentiment was also supported by a 10-year Brazil supply agreement for Pertuzumab, covering the country's public healthcare market.

Suzlon Energy secured a 200 MW wind energy order from Ayana Renewable Power, marking its third DevCo-led order across Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. The project involves 64 S144 turbines of 3.15 MW each and will be executed through Suzlon's end-to-end EPC offering. With this order, Suzlon's S144 3.x MW platform has exceeded 10 GW in cumulative orders.

Crude oil remains near, but below, $100 a barrel as Middle East shipments continue through alternative routes and producers elsewhere raise output. Lower Chinese imports and weaker fuel demand have also capped prices. However, lost Russian and Middle Eastern supplies, limited refining capacity and approaching winter demand are driving diesel prices higher, according to Reuters.

Economist Surjit Bhalla said protectionism is holding back Indian manufacturing by shielding domestic companies from global competition. He said tariffs, non-tariff barriers and Quality Control Orders can deter investment and weaken exports. Bhalla added that India needs more private investment, manufacturing exports and access to global demand for faster, sustained economic growth.

Kotak Mahindra Asset Management MD Nilesh Shah said mutual funds should expand beyond equity into debt, hybrid funds, gold, REITs, InvITs and alternative assets. He said wider offerings could give retail investors access to different risk-return profiles, including unlisted investments. Shah expects Indian equities to deliver high-single-digit to low-double-digit returns, rather than 20%-30%.

Former NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar said India should consider Chinese investment while maintaining national security safeguards. He called for a targeted approach to FDI, with authorities identifying anchor investors and removing barriers to long-term investment. Kumar also said states need their own investment and export strategies to help India build an export-oriented economy.

If a mutual fund is underperforming, investors should first check whether it is a temporary setback or a long-term issue and whether the fund manager, strategy or portfolio has changed. If the fund has lagged its benchmark for over three years, investors can reconsider it. They may stop the SIP and invest new money elsewhere without selling existing units immediately.

Rentomojo's ₹1,256-crore initial public offering was fully subscribed on the first ​day of bidding on Wednesday. Rentomojo has set its IPO price band at ₹384-404 per share, as it seeks to become India's first ‌listed furniture rental company. Rentomojo's IPO comprises ₹150 crore in fresh shares and an offer for sale (OFS) of 2.74 crore shares.

Economist Rajeswari Sengupta questioned how India's GDP grew 7.8% as consumption, investment and government spending rose despite higher import prices. She said quarterly estimates require caution because informal firms, services and gig work are difficult to measure. Sengupta also sought clearer documentation on the revised GDP series' data sources, methods and price adjustments.

Indian IT stocks extended their decline for a third straight day on Wednesday, led by HCL Tech and Infosys. Infosys fell for the sixth session, while TCS declined for the seventh consecutive day. Nifty IT stocks collectively lost over ₹1.2 lakh crore in market value in two-and-a-half days, with HCL Tech down 4% and TCS losing over ₹37,000 crore.

A consumer court has ordered the EPFO to pay 6% interest to a retired employee for delaying his over ₹14 lakh provident fund claim by 35 days. The Mumbai commission said EPFO failed to process the claim within the required 20 days under the EPF Scheme, 1952. EPFO's explanation that documents were missing was rejected as it provided no proof.

UIDAI chairman Neelkanth Mishra said the Aadhaar system has dealt with cyber threats since day one. "We face hundreds of attacks from hackers every day. We have built safeguards against that," he said on the sidelines of the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. "We have been using AI to filter out fraudsters...it's a cat-and-mouse game," he added.

A merchant may ask for an additional 2% on credit card payments to cover Merchant Discount Rate. RBI has said it has not issued instructions on levying charges for credit card transactions. Customers can question such charges or raise the issue with their card issuer. If unresolved within a month, they can approach RBI Ombudsman. Alternatively, customers can use UPI.

Shares which are gifted by a relative are not taxed but the receiver inherits the donor's acquisition cost and holding period. If a person receives shares worth over ₹50,000 from a non-relative, it is taxable as income from other sources, based on the value when received. If the shares are later sold, capital gains tax applies to them.

Changing jobs leads to multiple Provident Fund (PF) member IDs, but the money is still present in those accounts. If a person loses their PF IDs, they can find their Universal Account Number (UAN), which remains consistent across jobs, using the EPFO member portal. Using the UAN, the EPFO passbook can be found, which contains details of old PF contributions.
