RBI to introduce 200 cr plastic notes of ₹10, ₹20 from April 1: Report

The RBI is set to introduce 200 crore polymer notes in ₹10 and ₹20 denominations for field trials from April 1, 2027, Mint reported, citing a source. The new notes will retain the existing dimensions, meaning banks will not incur additional costs to reconfigure ATMs. The exercise aims to assess the notes' durability, ease of handling and public acceptance.
