When to seek a credit card refund & when to dispute a transaction?

Credit cardholders can request refunds for cancelled orders, damaged products, undelivered services or billing errors by contacting the merchant directly. A chargeback involves disputing a transaction through the card issuer when a merchant refuses a valid refund, fails to respond or does not deliver as promised. Unauthorised transactions should be reported promptly to the bank.
