Which gold items are exempt from mandatory hallmarking?

Gold articles weighing less than two grams and special categories of jewellery such as kundan and jadau are exempt from mandatory hallmarking under the Quality Control Order (QCO). Gold watches, fountain pens, and gold bullion in forms such as bars and plates are also exempt. Notably, unfinished articles intended for further processing are also exempt from mandatory hallmarking.
