The Bank Nifty index fell 0.63% on Monday, led by losses in private banks after they missed July-September quarter profit estimates. Axis Bank, Yes Bank and HDFC Bank declined 4.32%, 3.20% and 2.47%, respectively. HDFC Bank faced pressure from weaker treasury income and higher bad-loan provisions, while Axis Bank reported higher expenses and weaker other income.
