Woman gives birth at 54 using embryo frozen 22 years ago after son's death in Greece

A 54-year-old Greek woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl in Athens using an embryo frozen for more than 22 years. Her embryo was cryopreserved in March 2004 and transferred in December 2025. The couple pursued another child after their 21-year-old son died in a road accident. Greece permits IVF procedures for women only up to age 54.
