The Global Commission on Adaptation on Tuesday suggested in a report that the world would need to invest $1.8 trillion by 2030 to prepare for the effects of global warming. It added that the investment, if made in five areas of climate adaptation, could yield $7.1 trillion in net benefits. The Commission includes Bill Gates and ex-UN chief Ban Ki-moon.
