Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Centre's allocation of ₹10,000 crore for railway projects in West Bengal is the "biggest ever allocation for railway projects". If the WB government would make land available, the Centre would expedite the projects, he added. Work would start immediately after identification and procurement of land, Vaishnaw further said.
