The printing of ₹500 notes has been ramped-up to about ₹3,000 crore a day to meet the extra demand, Economic Affairs Secretary SC Garg has said. He added that the cash situation in the country is "quite comfortable". Garg said he had reviewed the cash situation in the country last week and 85% of the ATMs were functional.
