₹10 lakh crore wiped off investor wealth as Sensex tanks 1,000 points

Sensex fell over 1,000 points to 71,567.18 on Thursday, wiping off roughly ₹10 lakh crore in investor wealth as of 1:20 pm. Meanwhile, Nifty also dipped below 22,250. The decline came a day after the RBI increased the repo rate and signalled that more hikes could follow. Rising crude prices and persistent foreign fund outflows also weighed on investor sentiment.
